One of the tricks of the appraisal trade are to create templates, which are designed once, and can be instantiated for multiple users. This creates uniformity, and also allows you to take a higher level view beyond just one individual. Many enterprises have one template per role, for example, a “Customer Service Representative Template”, a “Shift Leader Template”, etc. Many enterprises have one template per role, per maturity level, for example, “Sr. Software Developer”, “Software Developer”, etc. Although it is tempting to reuse appraisal templates from previous year, we highly encourage that you review the entire appraisal process itself every year, and improve the templates themselves so that they are best aligned to your business objectives.
